“Lauren is an amazing doula! I am so happy to have had Lauren as my birth doula for the birth of my son! Lauren is extremely knowledgeable, professional, patient, and kind; and she was a tremendous help to my husband and me before, during, and after the birth. When we were considering hiring a doula, I knew that I wanted someone who would help me to understand what was going on and to feel empowered to make good decisions. Lauren's style was an excellent fit for what I wanted in my birth experience.
I started having regular contractions in the morning. Two hours later my contractions became closer and closer together, so I called Lauren and let her know this baby is coming! Lauren was at our house so fast which helped calm me down. Having Lauren there helped me feel comfortable laboring at home in the bathtub longer than I would have otherwise. Lauren helped with the contractions and gave my husband and me advice for easing the pain. At the hospital, Lauren worked extremely well with the nurses and with my OB/GYN when it came time to make decisions about things. I can not recommend Lauren enough as a doula! “Lauren was absolutely amazing as my doula. From the first time we met and discussed my birth preferences, I felt heard and cared for. She spent time listening to me and shared her knowledge. When it was time for baby to come, she was available right away. When she arrived I felt like I could let my body do what it needed to do because with her around I felt secure. “Lauren was so comfortable to talk to, and listened to my concerns and questions. Everything kind of got thrown for a loop and my birth plan got thrown out the window. Plans completely changed and she was very flexible, not at all surprised by any changes and even went by our house to pick up some things for us to have at the hospital. She was so sweet and kind. “We LOVE Lauren! I was sure I wanted a doula and researched quite a bit to find the right doula for us!! After my first meeting with Lauren I knew she was going to be an amazing help to me and my husband - as first time parents, we weren't confident on basically anything, and she walked us through every phase of pregnancy and addressed every single question or concern we had. My labor went very quickly and Lauren was there at 4am holding my hand and making sure everything went as smoothly as possible. After my son was born, she stayed for a few hours and helped me and my husband get settled/process and assist with nursing. Seriously couldn't have done it without her!!! “I highly recommend Lauren of Steadfast Birth Services! With my first pregnancy, I had a hospital birth with an epidural and a third-degree tear. I disliked so much of my experience, especially being confined to a bed for 18+ hours. When I became pregnant again, I knew I wanted to try for an unmedicated birth. I began looking for a doula and am so thankful to have been connected with Lauren! I still delivered in a hospital and even ended up with a Pitocin induction, but was able to achieve my goal of birthing without an epidural. Lauren was a tremendous help in providing research and evidence to help me understand all of my options through pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. She applied counter pressure (game changer), helped me regulate my breathing, and ensured I continued to change positions. I would never have known to change positions so often between standing, hands and knees, using a yoga ball leaning over the bed with peanut ball, etc. She has such a calm yet strong presence. She brought a diffuser which helped create a calming environment. I also ended up loving the comb to squeeze to “distract” your mind from the pain of contractions. The heating pad was amazing relief as well! Lauren is knowledgeable, encouraging, and has a gift. Look no further for an amazing doula and friend.” — Kara

“Adding Lauren to my birth team was the best decision I could have made… I was taking classes for the Bradley Method, and while they helped me understand the process my body was about to go through, Lauren was instrumental in ensuring the labor and delivery process went as smoothly as possible. My hospital had a horrific administrative mix-up and had 3 charts open for me at once, and an L&D nurse who was sweet but could not readily identify my stages of labor (e.g., contractions, pushing) - Lauren took the reins with ease. I have very little memories of my L&D nurse’s involvement, but am well aware of the impact Lauren had - from coaching my husband to be involved in my unmedicated pain management, helping me get into different positions, and working with my husband to communicate with the nurses and doctors, to making the room more festive with peppermint scents and lights just so I could feel a bit more at ease (December baby). “Lauren was SUCH a blessing during my husband and I’s first birth experience. She was easygoing, genuine, and trustworthy from the beginning. She helped us make a birth plan and was incredibly receptive to what our hopes and dreams were. Of course, no birth goes to plan, and we found out our sweet baby was breech at our 38 week visit. Lauren came along side us during the ECV procedure and throughout the induction process and vaginal delivery. She was by our side for days in the hospital as we prayed, waited, and took all of the steps needed for our baby boy to arrive safely.
